Anflo Management and Investment Corporation (ANFLOCOR) officially sealed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of the Philippines for the proposed establishment of a satellite UP campus in Panabo City.

The envisioned UP campus will be established in the heart of the center of agriculture in the Philippines - Panabo City, Davao del Norte. On this site will be established a multi-use, fully functioning community with residential, commercial, institutional, and recreation components. While the project is being developed, both parties intend to initially kick off by offering graduate level agricultural courses in Davao City.

ANFLOCOR, a pioneer in agribusiness in the Philippines, has always been supportive in promoting world class agriculture, through elevating the Davao Region as a major hub for agribusiness. The company has also been eager in establishing a center of excellence in the field of research and development and in bringing world-class agricultural education to the region.

Forming a partnership with UP, the country’s premiere national university, ANFLOCOR looks to realize this vision.

Confident that this partnership will result to a productive research and development in the field of agriculture, Cary Lagdameo, VP for Damosa Land, said, “. I strongly feel that, upon investing in a partnership with UP, we are not only investing in an institution, but more so on the young brilliant minds of future leaders. After all, why send our brightest and best of the region anywhere else, when we can bring the education to them here in our locality.”

The signing was made more significant as it coincided with the commemoration of the birthday of the founder of ANFLOCOR, Don Antonio O. Floirendo, Sr. and the second day of the 2014 Davao Trade Expo (DATE), held back-to-back with the International Banana Symposium, organized by the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Bioversity International.

ANFLOCOR is the management and investment company of the Anflo Group of Companies, a conglomerate which ventures into agriculture, industrial services, real estate, and resort development. Its flagship company is Tagum Agricultural Development Company, Inc. (TADECO), which is one of the highest yielding banana plantations in the world.
